The De Beers Bursary is a prestigious full-tuition bursary program designed to support high-caliber students from the Blouberg and Musina Municipalities in Limpopo province.
This bursary targets students pursuing specific undergraduate degrees critical to the mining industry’s success.
De Beers recognizes the importance of a skilled workforce and aims to cultivate a pipeline of talented professionals within these crucial fields.
De Beers Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the De Beers Bursary, you must meet the following strict requirements:
- Residency: Be a resident of Blouberg or Musina Municipality, Limpopo province (proof required).
- Academic Background:
- Completed Matric with a minimum APS score of 5 in both Mathematics and Science.
- Be enrolled full-time for a qualifying degree (see below).
- Entering your 2nd year of study at a recognized South African university or university of technology.
- Field of Study: Pursue a full-time undergraduate degree in one of the following fields:
- Accounting
- Electrical Engineering
- Human Resources Management
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy
- Mineral Resource Management (Geology, Geotech, Survey)Â Â
- Mining (two bursaries awarded in this field)
- Financial Aid: Not be a recipient of any other bursary funding.
- Equity: Preference will be given to students classified as HDSA (Historically Disadvantaged Backgrounds).
De Beers Bursary Application Requirements
Securing a De Beers Bursary requires submitting a complete application with the following documents:
- Certified copy of your Matric certificate
- Full academic record/transcripts (most recent, on institution letterhead)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Proof of place of birth or residence in Blouberg or Musina Municipality
- Original letter (no older than 3 months) confirming your residency from the Blouberg Municipality, Musina Municipality, or Tribal Council
How to Apply
De Beers offers two convenient ways to submit your bursary application:
- Email: Submit a clear scan of all required documents to [email protected] with “De Beers Bursary Application 2025” in the subject line.
- Physical Submission: Deliver your application package to the Human Resources Office in Timbila or designated drop-off boxes in the community (locations to be confirmed).
There is no separate application form for this bursary.
