The Koffiefontein Diamond Mine Bursary targets ambitious students residing near the Koffiefontein mine in the Free State province.
It offers financial support to pursue specific undergraduate degrees (BSc) in:
- Environmental and Engineering Geology
- Engineering Geology
- Industrial Engineering
- Mining Engineering
The bursary covers your full tuition fees, accommodation in residence, and meals (or equivalent allowances).

To be eligible for the Koffiefontein Diamond Mine Bursary program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Reside in the local labour sending area of Letsemeng Municipality
- Be pursuing or planning to pursue one of the listed qualifications
- Be registered and accepted at a recognized South African university or university of technology
- Have a minimum of 60% (Level 6) for Mathematics in your Matric mid-year exams (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Have a minimum of 60% (Level 6) for Sciences in your Matric mid-year exams
- Meet the minimum Admission Point Score (APS) requirement:
- Industrial Engineering: 35
- Other listed disciplines: 31
- Have a strong academic record if already enrolled at a university
- (Preference) Be a senior student (although 1st year applications are considered)
- (Preference) Reside within the company’s host labour sending area (Letsemeng/Xhariep District Municipalities)
- (Preference) Be a female student or from a designated equity group (as per Petra Diamonds’ Employment Equity Policy)
