Step 1: Enter Your Scores
The calculator requires you to input your scores for different subjects. Follow these steps for each subject:
- Home Language (%):
- Locate the input field labeled “Home Language (%).”
- Enter your percentage score for your home language exam (e.g., 65).
- English (%):
- Find the input field labeled “English (%).”
- Input your percentage score for your English exam (e.g., 70).
- Mathematics (%):
- Locate the field labeled “Mathematics (%)”.
- Enter your percentage score for your Mathematics exam (e.g., 58).
- Elective Subject 1 (%):
- Enter your score for your first elective subject in the field labeled “Elective Subject 1 (%)” (e.g., 75).
- Elective Subject 2 (%):
- Input your score for your second elective subject (e.g., 80) in the “Elective Subject 2 (%)” field.
- Elective Subject 3 (%):
- Enter your score for your third elective subject (e.g., 67) in the “Elective Subject 3 (%)” field.
Step 2: Calculate Your APS
- Click the Button:
- After entering all scores, click the “Calculate APS” button at the bottom of the form.
- View Your Result:
- The calculator will process your inputs and display your total APS score in the designated area below the button. It will say something like: Your APS Score: 33.
Understanding Your APS Score
- Based on your entered scores, the APS score ranges from 0 to 42. Higher APS scores increase your chances of qualifying for competitive university programs.
- Each percentage range translates to an APS value:
- 80% – 100%: 7 points
- 70% – 79%: 6 points
- 60% – 69%: 5 points
- 50% – 59%: 4 points
- 40% – 49%: 3 points
- 30% – 39%: 2 points
- 0% – 29%: 1 point
Tips for Using the Calculator
- Double-check Scores: Make sure to enter your actual exam percentages accurately.
- Consider All Subjects: Only include subjects contributing to your APS, typically your home language, English, mathematics, and three electives.
- Research University Requirements: After calculating your APS, check the specific APS requirements for the programs you wish to apply for at various universities.
