The Athlone Institute Trust (AIT) was established in 1926 for the residents of the Paarl area since they were in severe need of Higher Educational facilities for coloured students.
The Bursary Project Committee was founded and later in 2006 renamed “The Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund (AIBPROF)”.
With a strong focus on academic excellence and personal development, the institute offers a variety of programs across various disciplines.

About Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund
The Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund is designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, and other essential expenses, allowing recipients to focus on their studies without the burden of financial stress.
The fund is made possible through generous donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Academic Merit: Applicants must have a strong academic record, as evidenced by their matriculation results or previous academic transcripts.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate a genuine need for financial assistance to pursue their studies. This may include providing documentation of household income, expenses, and other relevant financial information.
- Enrollment at Athlone Institute: Applicants must be enrolled or have been accepted into a full-time undergraduate program at Athlone Institute.
