The bursary program provides financial support for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in specific fields aligned with BoN’s mission, including:

Undergraduate Studies:

  1. Bachelor of Accounting / CA
  2. Bachelor of Computer Science (Cyber Security/ Artificial Intelligence/ Data Science)
  3. Bachelor of Economics (Econometrics / Statistics / Mathematics)
  4. Bachelor of Education (Mathematics/Sciences)
  5. Bachelor of Finance / Quantitative Finance / Financial Technology
  6. Bachelor of Industrial Engineering

Postgraduate Studies:

  1. Master of Economics (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Modeling)
  2. Master of Data Science / Data Engineering
  3. Master of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Robotics
  4. Master of Science or Law in Oil & Gas / Renewable Energy

Bank of Namibia Bursary Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the BoN Bursary, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:

Undergraduate Studies:

  1. Namibian Citizenship
  2. Accepted or provisionally accepted into a recognized Namibian tertiary institution for studies in one of the listed fields
  3. Commencing first year of studies in 2024
  4. Completed/completing Grade 12/ AS Level examinations
  5. Demonstrably strong academic ability
  6. Intending to pursue undergraduate studies at a recognized Namibian university or other SADC region institutions

Postgraduate Studies:

  1. Namibian Citizenship
  2. Accepted or provisionally accepted into a recognized Namibian tertiary institution for postgraduate studies in one of the listed fields
  3. Commencing Master’s studies in 2024
  4. Demonstrably strong academic ability
  5. Intending to pursue postgraduate studies at a recognized Namibian university or other SADC region institutions

Bank of Namibia Bursary Application Requirements

Applications are strictly submitted online. The application process involves:

  1. Completing the online bursary application form and submitting it.
  2. Attaching the following supporting documents:
    • Proof of Namibian citizenship (e.g., ID card)
    • Proof of provisional acceptance from a recognized tertiary institution
    • Grade 12/ AS Level results (undergraduate applicants) or certified copies of relevant undergraduate degree and academic record (postgraduate applicants)
  3. Receiving notification of application receipt and review.
  4. Shortlisting based on meeting the minimum requirements and selection criteria.
  5. Participating in a means test to assess your financial situation.
  6. Interviewing for the bursary (successful means test applicants).
  7. Receiving a preliminary offer based on meeting all requirements, including final Grade 12 results and confirmed university acceptance.

You must note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and application documents will not be returned.
