DirectAxis University Scholarship 2026 Eligibility & How To Apply

The DirectAxis University Scholarship offers financial support to academically strong South African tertiary students. 

Because only two scholarships are awarded each year, you should act quickly once the call opens. 

Missing the deadline or submitting incomplete work will disqualify you.

About the Organisation

DirectAxis is a South African financial services company. They offer insurance and personal loans, among other financial services. 

The university scholarship is one of their programmes to give back, by helping students with tertiary costs.

Fields of Study Funded

The scholarship is not restricted to specific academic fields.

Any full‐time undergraduate student (or incoming student) at a recognised South African university is eligible, provided they meet the criteria.

Benefits for Recipients

• Two scholarships are awarded each cycle.
• Each scholarship is worth R20 000.
• The award is paid directly to the university the recipient attends.

Eligibility Criteria

You need to satisfy all of the following:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Be currently enrolled or accepted for full-time study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
• Have strong academic results in the previous year of study (or Matric if just entering).

How to Apply

To apply, you are expected to do the following:

1. Follow/like DirectAxis on their social media (Twitter, LinkedIn) etc.
2. Write an essay (between 1,200 – 1,500 words): What is the biggest financial mistake you have made and what have you learnt from it?
3. Write a short biography of yourself (about 250 words)
4. Email your essay + biography to [email protected].

Required Documents

From available sources, the following are needed:

• Proof of acceptance or enrolment at a recognised tertiary institution.
• A valid South African ID.
• Your academic record / previous year’s results.

Closing Date

In past calls, the closing date has been 31 October.

Winner announcement (for example, 2025-2026) is around 10 December.
