The Western Cape Department of Agriculture – Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute Bursary aims to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are keen to pursue studies in agriculture at EATI.

The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, and other study-related expenses, allowing recipients to focus on their academic pursuits without the burden of financial constraints.

This bursary program is particularly interested in supporting students who:

  1. Are South African citizens.
  2. Come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
  3. Demonstrate financial need.
  4. Are passionate about agriculture and committed to contributing to the sector.

Application Form for the Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute Bursary

Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute Bursary Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the WCDoA/EATI Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. South African citizenship: You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Study focus: You must be studying or intending to study towards one of the following qualifications at EATI:
    • B. Agric Degree (M +3 years): Requires Matric (NSC) with admission to bachelor’s degree studies and a minimum overall average of 55% (excluding Life Orientation).
    • National Diploma in Agriculture (3 years): Requires Matric (NSC) with admission to a National Diploma qualification and a minimum overall average of 50% (excluding Life Orientation).
    • National Diploma in Agricultural Management (3 years): Requires Matric (NSC) with admission to a National Diploma qualification and a minimum overall average of 50% (excluding Life Orientation).
    • National Certificate in Agriculture (2 years): Requires Senior Certificate (Grade 11) with a minimum overall average of 50%.
  3. Financial need: You must demonstrate financial need based on household income and living expenses.
  4. Academic merit: You must show strong academic potential through past academic results.
  5. Previous disadvantage: Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students, including female applicants, black applicants, and those with disabilities.

Applications for the WCDoA/EATI Bursary are open on the EATI website during specific periods.

Currently, applications for the 2024 intake have closed (closing date was 30 September 2023).
