Enel Bursary Requirements, Application and Closing Dates

The Enel Green Power South Africa (EGP SA) Bursary Programme supports South African students from communities near EGP SA’s renewable-energy operations. 

The award covers both high-school and tertiary education across any field of study, aiming to reduce financial barriers for students living near wind- and solar-farm sites.

The programme is active and remains open to eligible applicants.

Enel Bursary Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Enel Green Power Bursary, applicants must satisfy several criteria.

  1. Must be a South African citizen.
  2. Must reside within approximately 50 km of an EGP SA wind or solar-farm site in Limpopo, Northern Cape, Western Cape or Free State.
  3. For the tertiary bursary: Must have completed Matric (Grade 12) and be enrolling or already enrolled full-time in a recognised public South African university, university of technology or TVET college.
  4. For the high-school bursary: Learners in Grades 8 to 11 (progressing to Matric) may qualify, based on previous public descriptions.
  5. Must demonstrate a strong academic record (past average ~65%) and financial need, usually from a household with income less than approximately R 357 000 per annum.
  6. The bursary is open to students in any field of study.

Enel Bursary Application Process

Applicants should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official Enel Green Power South Africa bursary webpage or the administering agency’s portal to access the application form.
  2. Complete the online application form with personal details, contact information and study plan.
  3. Upload or submit the required supporting documents:
    • Certified copy of South African ID document.
    • Matric certificate or latest academic results (for tertiary/TVET) or high-school report (for Grades 8-11).
    • Proof of acceptance/enrolment at a recognised institution (for tertiary applicants).
    • Proof of residence within the operational area and proof of financial need (household income, payslips, affidavit if applicable).

As of now, the exact closing date for the 2026 intake has not yet been officially published.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary provides financial assistance at both the high-school and tertiary levels.

For high-school learners: school fees, stationery, textbooks, school uniforms and transport costs.
