Create FAFSA ID quickly

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the main choice of financial aid for college students in the United States.

To access and submit your FAFSA application electronically, you’ll need a Federal Student Aid ID (FAFSA ID).

This secure login credential allows you to manage your financial aid applications on the Federal Student Aid website.

What is a FAFSA ID?

A FAFSA ID is a username and password combination that serves as your electronic signature for the FAFSA form.

It also grants you access to a range of features on the Federal Student Aid (.gov) website, including:

  1. Completing and submitting your FAFSA application electronically.
  2. Making corrections to your submitted FAFSA form.
  3. Accessing your federal student aid history and tracking the status of your financial aid applications.
  4. Signing loan documents electronically.
  5. Viewing your federal student loan information.

Who Needs a FAFSA ID?

Below are the people who are required to possess a FAFSA ID:

  1. Students applying for federal student aid for the first time.
  2. Returning students who wish to apply for federal student aid for a new academic year.
  3. Parents of dependent students who will be providing financial information on the FAFSA form.

Can I Use Someone Else’s FAFSA ID?

No, your FAFSA ID is unique to you and should not be shared with anyone.

If you are a dependent student, you and your parent(s) will each need to create your own FSA ID to access the FAFSA form.
