The Genesis Educational Foundation Trust is the educational arm of Genesis Analytics.

It is a microeconomics consultancy firm that was established in South Africa in 1998.

GEFT aims to support deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to postgraduate studies in Economics and related fields.

About the Genesis Educational Foundation Bursary

The GEFT Bursary offers financial support for Honours and Master’s degrees in various fields including Economics, Economic Science, Applied Economics, Development Economics, Behavioural Economics, International Development, and Public Health (Epidemiology or Health Economics).

The bursary provides full or partial cover for tuition fees, prescribed books, and stationery.

Depending on available funds, GEFT may also contribute towards additional expenses such as accommodation, living allowance, and transportation.  

Genesis Educational Foundation Trust Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the GEFT Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a South African citizen (by birth)
  2. Be currently studying or intend to study towards one of the postgraduate qualifications listed above in 2025
  3. Be enrolled or plan to enroll at a recognized university in South Africa
  4. Have achieved and maintained a minimum overall average of 65% for your undergraduate or Honours degree (if applicable)
  5. Come from a previously disadvantaged background as defined by the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998

Genesis Educational Foundation Trust Bursary Application Requirements

Applications for the GEFT Bursary must be submitted online through the official application portal.

Applications received via email will not be considered.

Here are the documents you need to submit along with your application:

  1. Certified copy of your South African ID document
  2. A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. A one-page motivational letter outlining your areas of interest within your chosen field (refer to online resources for writing a strong motivational letter for bursary applications)
  4. A full academic record/transcript from your first year of study to current date (official university letterhead required, consolidated into one document)
  5. Honours transcripts (on university letterhead) – for Master’s degree applicants only
  6. A recent writing sample (essay, proposal, or assignment)
  7. Note: All supporting documents should not exceed 4MB in total.
