About Gold One Bursary

The Gold One Bursary provides financial assistance to students to cover the costs of their studies, including tuition fees, examination fees, prescribed books, and university-administered accommodation.

The bursary is available to students from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality who are studying full-time in the following fields:

  1. Finance
  2. Geological and Earth Sciences
  3. Mechanical Engineering
  4. Metallurgical Science
  5. Mining Engineering
  6. Social Science  

Gold One Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Gold One Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Reside within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s designated municipal wards
  3. Be studying or registered to study towards a qualification in one of the specified fields
  4. Be studying or registered to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  5. Have a clear criminal record
  6. Preference will be given to students residing within mine hosting communities (Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, and Nigel)  

Gold One Bursary Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following documents with their online application:

  1. ID document (certified copy)
  2. Proof of tertiary registration (certified copy)
  3. Formal quotations for all study-related expenses (certified copy)
  4. Proof of parents or guardians’ household income (certified copies)  
  5. Proof of residence (certified copy)
