About the Hollywood Foundation Bursary

The Hollywood Foundation Bursary, also known as the Future is Bright Bursary program, is designed to empower South African youth by financially supporting their tertiary education.

The bursary program is available for undergraduate (Higher Certificate, Diploma or Degree) and postgraduate studies in specific fields aligned with the current job market demands.

These fields include:

  1. Accounting
  2. Computer Science
  3. Data Science (BSc)
  4. Digital Marketing
  5. Finance
  6. Information Management (BSc)
  7. Marketing

The primary goal of the Hollywood Foundation Bursary is to equip young South Africans with the necessary qualifications to increase their employability and contribute meaningfully to the country’s workforce.

The Hollywood Foundation Bursary may provide full or partial cover for study-related expenses.

The exact amount awarded depends on your chosen field of study and academic performance.

The bursary covers one year of study at a time, with the option to reapply for continued funding in subsequent years.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in assessments and interviews before the final selection is made.

All applicants will receive notification regarding the status of their application by the end of December 2024.

Hollywood Foundation Bursary Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the Hollywood Foundation Bursary, it’s important to ensure you meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

Failure to meet any of these criteria will result in your application being disqualified.

  1. You must be a South African citizen.
  2. You must have completed Matric or be currently enrolled in your final Matric year.
  3. You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification in one of the listed fields (Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science (BSc), Digital Marketing, Finance, Information Management (BSc), Marketing) in 2025. This includes full-time Higher Certificates, National Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees, and Postgraduate studies.
  4. Minimum Course Duration: The qualification you are pursuing must be at least 12 months long.
  5. You must be studying or intend on studying at a tertiary institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa.
  6. Academic Performance:
    • Minimum 65% overall average in Matric, if currently in Matric.
    • Minimum 65% per subject in Matric, if currently in Matric.
    • Minimum 60% overall average at tertiary level, if currently enrolled at a tertiary institution.
  7. You must agree to the Hollywood Foundation Bursary Terms and Conditions (available as a .pdf document).

Hollywood Foundation Bursary Application Requirements

Applications for the Hollywood Foundation Bursary are submitted online.

Along with your online application, you must submit clear copies of the following supporting documents:

  1. Certified copy of your ID document
  2. Matric certificate or statement of results
  3. Acceptance letter or proof of application from your chosen institution (on official institution letterhead)
  4. Detailed information regarding your chosen qualification
  5. Name and address of your registered institution
  6. Proforma or estimated invoice from your institution (on official institution letterhead). This invoice should detail the full registration, tuition, and examination fees for all courses/modules encompassing the entire academic year.
  7. Proof of banking details for your registered institution
  8. Proof of address
  9. Motivational letter outlining your reasons for applying for the bursary.
