Through its bursary program, Jindal Africa aims to empower deserving students residing near the mine in Mpumalanga to pursue qualifications in critical mining and engineering fields.

About the Jindal Africa Bursary

The Jindal Africa Bursary program offers financial assistance to qualifying South African students.

The bursary covers a wide range of expenses, including:

  1. University students: Full tuition fees, books, accommodation, living allowance, and a once-off laptop allowance.
  2. TVET College students: Full tuition fees, books, accommodation, and a stipend.  

This comprehensive support package allows successful bursary recipients to focus on their studies without financial worry.

The bursary program is specifically designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the following fields:

University studies:

  1. Electrical Engineering
  2. Mechanical Engineering
  3. Metallurgy
  4. Mine Survey
  5. Mining Engineering

TVET College studies:

  1. Boilermaker
  2. Diesel Mechanic
  3. Electrician
  4. Fitting & Turning
  5. Millwright

Jindal Africa Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Jindal Africa Bursary program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

University students:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Reside within the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Mpumalanga
  3. Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  4. Plan to study full-time towards a qualification in one of the listed fields at a recognized South African university in 2025
  5. Current Matric students: Achieve a minimum of level 5 for English, level 6 for Mathematics, and level 6 for Physics
  6. Current University students: Maintain a minimum overall average of 65% for all major subjects

TVET College students:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Reside within the Mkhondo Local Municipality, Mpumalanga
  3. Have completed Grade 9 to Matric
  4. Plan to study full-time towards a qualification in one of the listed fields at a recognized South African TVET/ FET College in 2025
  5. Current TVET College students: Achieve a minimum N1-Mathematics, 40% for Physical Science, N2-Mathematics, and 50% for Physical Science

Failure to meet any of the above criteria will result in disqualification.

Jindal Africa Bursary Application Requirements

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the Jindal Africa Bursary by submitting the following documents:

  1. Application letter stating your desired field of study
  2. Updated Curriculum Vitae
  3. Certified copy of your ID document
  4. Certified copy of your school report (for Matric students) or most recent academic record (for university students)
  5. Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance letter from your chosen university or college (on official letterhead)
  6. Proof of any completed online courses (optional but beneficial)

There is no separate application form for this bursary. Simply compile the listed documents and submit them as a complete package.
