Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust Bursary South Africa 2025

Are you a deserving student residing in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town, with aspirations for tertiary education?

Look no further than the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust (MP Bursary Trust).

This esteemed organization offers financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their academic goals at any recognized tertiary institution within the Western Cape.

About Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust

Founded by former finance minister Trevor Manuel, the MP Bursary Trust emerged from a desire to bridge the educational gap in Mitchell’s Plain.

Recognizing the importance of education and skills development, the Trust launched at Spine Road High School on Youth Day 2011.

The inaugural year saw 15 matriculants receive bursaries towards their tuition fees.

The Trust aims to provide students with initial funding and support, assisting them in accessing tertiary education.

Bursary awards offer partial financial coverage for registration and/or tuition fees, up to a pre-determined maximum amount.

It’s important to note that the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust Bursary does not offer full bursaries.

Students are encouraged to explore alternative funding sources such as NSFAS funding, student loans, or other bursary opportunities to bridge the remaining fee gap.

Funding is disbursed directly to the student’s chosen tertiary institution, ensuring transparency and efficient allocation of resources.

Bursary awards are granted for one academic year, with successful recipients required to reapply annually.

Renewal is contingent on maintaining satisfactory academic performance.
