Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sports Foundation Bursary Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:
- You are a South African citizen.
- You reside within the North West Province.
- You are currently studying or intend to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Performing or Visual Arts.
- You are enrolled or accepted into an accredited South African institution of learning.
- You are not a recipient of NSFAS funding.
- You are not employed by the Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sports Foundation or the South African government.
Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sports Foundation Bursary Application Requirements
To apply for the Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sports Foundation Bursary, you’ll need to submit the following documents:
- Completed application form: Download the official application form from the Mmabana website.
- Certified copy of your South African ID (not older than 6 months)
- Proof of admission or acceptance from an accredited South African institution.
- Full academic transcripts or record (if you’re a current student beyond your first year), on your institution’s letterhead.
- Breakdown of fees from your institution, on their letterhead.
- Institution’s banking details, on their letterhead.
- Proof of income for parents, guardians, or yourself (if employed), in the form of 3 recent payslips.
- Proof of financial need (optional): If applicable, submit an affidavit and a motivational letter explaining your financial circumstances.
- Proof of residence in the North West Province.

You can submit your application in two ways:
- Email: Download the application form, complete it, and email it along with the required documents to Bursary2022@mmabana.org.za. Remember to include “Mmabana Bursary Application 2025” in the subject line.
- Physical Submission: Alternatively, you can submit your application package in person at any Mmabana Center within the North West Province (locations include Mahikeng, Taung, Lehurutshe, Rustenburg, and Kanana Community Arts Centre in Orkney).
