NSFAS applications are now open for semester 2. You can apply for funding to cover your tertiary education costs.

What is NSFAS?

NSFAS provides financial support to students from poor and working-class backgrounds. The funding covers tuition, registration fees, food, accommodation, and learning materials.

Who can apply?

If you’re a TVET college student, you can apply for NSFAS funding. You must be a South African citizen or intend to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme.

NSFAS Requirements For TVET College Students

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be registered or intending to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme.
  • Students must comply with the N+Rule.
  • Must not enrol for a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning

How To Apply For NSFAS

  1. Visit the NSFAS website: Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
  2. Create a myNSFAS account.
  3. Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen.
  4. Upload required documents where applicable.
  5. Click on ‘Submit’.

Take note of this information before starting your application

  • Applications close on 26 July 2024.
  • You must comply with the N+Rule.
  • You cannot apply for a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning.
  • Your combined gross family income must be below R350,000 annually for a bursary or R600,000 for an NSFAS loan.
