About the Openserve Bursary

The Openserve Bursary program empowers deserving students to pursue undergraduate studies in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering (light current), and information technology.

Openserve Bursary Eligibility Criteria

Before you apply, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. South African Citizenship: This bursary program is exclusively for South African citizens.
  2. Completed Matric: You must have successfully completed your Matriculation certificate.
  3. Undergraduate Studies: You must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program related to ICT, including computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering (light current), or information technology.
  4. Year of Study: Be in your second or third year of undergraduate studies at the time of application.
  5. Academic Performance: Demonstrate strong academic performance with the following minimum averages:
    • Second year students: Achieve a minimum of 70% for technology or engineering subjects and maintain a minimum overall average of 65% in your first year.
    • Third year students: Sustain a minimum of 70% for technology and engineering subjects and a minimum overall average of 65% in your second year.
  6. Postgraduate Aspirations: Show commitment to furthering your education by intending to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD) in the same ICT field after completing your undergraduate degree.
  7. University Accreditation: Your studies must be undertaken at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa.
