Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the OWLAG scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Currently be in Grade 7 or Grade 8 and progressing to Grade 8 or Grade 9 in 2025 (applications for the 2024 academic year closed in March 2023).
- Have achieved a minimum of 70% for both Mathematics and English in your Grade 6 final report.
- Come from a household with a combined monthly income of no more than R10,000 before deductions.
Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls Scholarship Application Requirements
A complete application for the OWLAG scholarship program includes:
- The completed OWLAG Scholarship Application Form 2025.
- Certified copies of the following supporting documents:
- Unabridged Birth Certificate
- ID photo
- 2022 Term 4 or Final Report (showing results for all four terms)
- Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
- Death certificates if parents or guardians are deceased (if applicable)
- Divorce decree with maintenance order (if applicable)
- Proof of adoption or change of guardianship (if applicable)
- Proof of address (Municipal Account or Account Statement)
- Proof of income for parents or guardians:
- Employed: Most recent 3 months’ salary slips and bank statements
- Unemployed: Affidavit and most recent 3 months’ bank statements
- Self-employed: SARS Letter or recent cash flow statement, and most recent 3 months’ company bank statements
- Receiving pension: Confirmation of monthly pension amount
- Receiving SASSA grant: SASSA Grant confirmation letter
