SACAP Bursary South Africa 2025
The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is the governing body for the architectural profession within South Africa.
Committed to excellence, SACAP strives to:

- Increase public awareness of architectural services.
- Maintain a strong educational foundation for architecture students.
Through the SACAP bursary program, they aim to financially support deserving architecture students pursuing their undergraduate or honors degrees.
About SACAP Bursary
The SACAP Bursary provides financial assistance to South African students enrolled in accredited Architectural Learning Institutions.
It covers undergraduate and honors studies, helping alleviate the financial burden of pursuing an architectural education.
SACAP Bursary Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the SACAP Bursary, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African Citizenship: You must be a South African citizen.
- Completed Matric: You must have completed your Matriculation certificate.
- Architectural Studies: You must be currently enrolled in an Architectural qualification program.
- Year of Study: You must be entering your second year or higher (including Honours) in 2024.
- Accredited Institution: You must be studying at an accredited Architectural Learning institution in South Africa.
- Financial Need: Students without disabilities must have a total household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum. Students with disabilities can apply if their household income is not more than R600,000 per annum.
- Designated Groups: Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups (according to South African government classifications).
SACAP Bursary Application Requirements
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the SACAP Bursary by submitting the following clear copies of documentation:
- South African ID Document: A certified copy of your South African identity document.
- Matric Certificate: A certified copy of your Matriculation certificate.
- Academic Results: Certified copies of your most recent academic results and your full academic record.
- Motivational Letter: A compelling one-page motivational letter explaining why you are applying for this bursary. Consider including your academic achievements, financial need, and career aspirations in architecture. - Proof of Income: Parents’, guardians’, or your own proof of household income. This can include the latest payslips if employed or an affidavit if unemployed.
- Bank Statements: Three recent months’ bank statements for your parents/guardians or yourself.
- Medical Note: A medical note stating the type of disability, if you are living with a disability.
There is no separate application form for the SACAP Bursary.
Simply compile and submit the listed documents. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

SACAP Bursary Closing Date
The closing date for the 2024 SACAP Bursary program has passed.
But we anticipate the application period for the 2025 bursary program to be announced by SACAP closer to the application deadline.
