SAFCOL Bursary Programme

The South African Forestry Company Limited (SAFCOL) manages forestry operations across several provinces: KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and parts of Mozambique (Manica and Sofala).

As the third-largest state-owned company in South Africa, SAFCOL focuses on sustainable forestry, including timber harvesting, processing, and related activities both locally and internationally.

SAFCOL Bursary Programme

SAFCOL offers bursaries for the upcoming academic year to students with outstanding academic achievements who face financial challenges.

The bursaries support both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in specific fields related to forestry and supporting disciplines.

Bursary Benefits

The bursary covers:

  • Registration and tuition fees
  • Learning materials, including textbooks
  • Meals and accommodation
  • A fixed stipend per semester

Note: After graduation, bursary recipients must work for SAFCOL for a period equivalent to the duration of the bursary. SAFCOL will notify successful candidates within 30 days post-application deadline. If you haven’t heard back by November 7, 2024, consider your application unsuccessful.

The bursary cannot be used to pay off existing debts or loans.

SAFCOL Bursary Programme Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the SAFCOL bursary:

  • You must be a South African resident.
  • You should have completed high school or be currently enrolled.
  • You must be pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in one of the specified fields at a recognized South African higher education institution.
  • Priority is given to residents in communities near SAFCOL plantations, students with disabilities, female students, and previously disadvantaged students.
