Established in 2006, the SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering development in communities surrounding SIOC (PTY) LTD operations.
Located primarily in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces, SIOC-CDT strives to create a brighter future for these communities by investing in education.
About SIOC-CDT Bursary
The SIOC-CDT Bursary program offers financial support to deserving underprivileged students from beneficiary communities.
This bursary is available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies across various fields, with a preference given to specific areas of study aligned with future job market needs.

SIOC-CDT Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the SIOC-CDT Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be under 35 years old by the closing date.
- Reside in or originate from one of the SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities: Gamagara Local Municipality (Northern Cape), Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality (Northern Cape), Tsantsabane Local Municipality (Northern Cape), Joe Morolong Local Municipality (Northern Cape), or Thabazimbi Local Municipality (Limpopo).
- Be currently in Matric, have completed Matric, or be a current tertiary student.
- Plan to study (part-time or full-time) towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in an approved field (listed below, with other fields also considered).
- Have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in your most recent academic results.
- Be accepted or provisionally accepted to a recognized public institution (University/ University of Technology/ TVET/ FET College) in South Africa for the 2025 academic year.
- Demonstrate financial need with a household income of less than R600 000 per year (before deductions).

SIOC-CDT Bursary Application Requirements
Applications for the SIOC-CDT Bursary can be submitted online or via hard copy.
Online Application:
- Visit the SIOC-CDT Bursary application portal.
Hard Copy Application:
- Download and complete the SIOC-CDT Bursary Application Form 2025 (available as a .pdf).
- Submit the completed application form along with the following supporting documents (certified copies must not be older than 3 months):
- ID document
- Matric mid-year/ prelim results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if completed Matric)
- Most recent tertiary academic results/ transcripts (if currently studying)
- Proof of acceptance/ provisional acceptance/ application to a public tertiary institution (on institution’s letterhead)
- Parents or guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips or affidavit)
- Parents or guardians’ 3 months recent bank statements
- Proof of residence (rates and taxes account, water and electricity bill, landlord letter, or affidavit)
- Medical note explaining type of disability (if applicable)
