South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) Bursary 2025
The South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) is the leading association representing South Africa’s table grape producers and exporters, established in 2004.
SATI maintains South Africa’s position as a top supplier of high-quality table grapes to global retailers.
Recognizing the importance of skilled professionals, SATI offers bursaries to cultivate a pipeline of future leaders within the industry.
About the South African Table Grape Industry Bursary
The SATI Bursary program provides financial assistance to South African students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in fields directly related to the table grape industry and its value chain.
These fields include a diverse range of disciplines critical to the industry’s success, including:
- Agricultural Economics
- Entomology
- Plant Pathology
- Soil Science
- Viticulture
The bursary offers partial or full financial support, covering tuition fees, study materials, accommodation, food, living expenses, and other justifiable costs.
The final funding amount depends on the available budget and approval by the SATI CEO.
Bursaries are awarded annually, and successful applicants must reapply each year to maintain funding, demonstrating satisfactory academic performance.
South African Table Grape Industry Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the SATI Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African Citizenship
- Enrollment in a field of study relevant to the table grape industry (listed above)
- Pursuit of an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification
- Part-time or full-time study status
- Minimum academic achievement of a “D” symbol overall
- Registration at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
- Demonstrated interest in a career within the table grape industry or its supporting sectors
Preference will be given to candidates who:
- Are entering their second or higher year of study
- Are previously disadvantaged students or those facing financial need
- Have existing involvement in the table grape industry or related empowerment initiatives
- Are beneficiaries of land reform programs or children of land reform beneficiaries
- Are children of farmworkers, particularly those already involved in the table grape industry
- Will be part of an industry-related research project

Please note that incomplete applications will be disqualified.
Therefore, ensure you include the following clear copies of supporting documents with your application:
- Certified copy of your South African ID document
- Certified copies of your highest academic qualifications
- Certified copies of your most recent academic results
- Proof of acceptance or preliminary acceptance letter from an accredited South African tertiary institution
- Research proposal and supervisor acceptance letter (for postgraduate applicants only)
