South African Veterinary Foundation (SAVF) Bursary 2025

The South African Veterinary Foundation (SAVF) is a non-profit organization established in 1984.

Their mission is to promote animal welfare through education, research, and public awareness campaigns.

They aim to advance veterinary science in South Africa by supporting research initiatives, offering financial aid to veterinary students, and managing investment portfolios to ultimately improve the quality of life for both animals and humans.

Since 1999, the SAVF has funded over 40 veterinary students, contributing a total of R250,000 towards their education.

The SAVF bursary program is generously funded by Lakato Veterinary Wholesalers, the SAVF’s Pet Memorial Fund, and a private donor.

About the South African Veterinary Foundation Bursary

The bursary program is open to South African students enrolled in the 4th or 5th year of their BVSc studies at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Veterinary Science.

The SAVF awards four bursaries annually, with two awarded to each year group.

Each bursary is valued at R10,000, providing valuable financial support to deserving students.

Unlike some bursaries, the SAVF program does not require any work back obligations after graduation, allowing you to freely pursue your veterinary career aspirations.
