Which TVET Colleges Offer NSFAS In KZN?

All nine public TVET colleges in KwaZulu-Natal are covered by NSFAS for eligible students. NSFAS does not fund private colleges, so check that your college is on this list.

Esayidi is based in Port Shepstone, not Pietermaritzburg; Mnambithi is in Ladysmith; and Mthashana is in Vryheid. Some older websites mix these up.

NSFAS at a TVET college is a bursary

• It does not have to be repaid, as Coastal KZN notes on its fees page.
• It covers tuition, and allowances for personal care plus accommodation or transport.
• Continuing students must pass 70% of enrolled modules and meet subject rules to stay funded.

Applying

1. Apply for a place at the college, usually online with a placement assessment first.
2. Apply for NSFAS online when its window is open.
3. Register at the college once accepted; NSFAS pays after your registration is confirmed.

uMfolozi TVET College said in September 2026 that its 2027 NC(V) and occupational applications were open, and Thekwini TVET College said its 2027 applications were open.
