The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) offers financial assistance to eligible South African students attending public TVET colleges.

One component of this aid is an accommodation allowance.

1. Urban Areas: If the college is situated in a major city, the NSFAS allowance could be around R24,000 per year.
   
2. Peri-Urban Areas: For colleges located in towns on the outskirts of cities, the allowance might be around R18,900 annually.

To qualify for the NSFAS accommodation allowance, you must reside more than 40km from the TVET college.
