IAHET Bursary South Africa 2025

The Imam Abdullah Haron Education Trust (IAHET) was established in 2005 to honor the legacy of Imam Abdullah Haron, an anti-apartheid activist who died in police detention in 1969.

The trust aims to empower previously disadvantaged individuals and groups through education.

IAHET offers financial support for students ranging from early childhood development projects to postgraduate studies.

About IAHET Bursary

The IAHET bursary program welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, or religion.

It offers partial bursaries to deserving students enrolled full-time at recognized public universities in South Africa.

These bursaries are designed to help students cover essential expenses like transportation, textbooks, and general living costs.

IAHET Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the IAHET bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a South African citizen.
  2. Be enrolled full-time for an undergraduate qualification at a public university (UCT, UWC, CPUT, US, or IPSA).
  3. Demonstrate financial need.
  4. Possess a strong academic record (applicable for 2nd and 3rd year students only).

Please note that failure to meet any of these criteria will result in your application being rejected.

IAHET Bursary Application Requirements

The application process for the IAHET bursary involves submitting the following documents:

  1. Completed application form: Download the application form (.pdf) from the IAHET website and fill it out accurately.
  2. Supporting documents:
    • Certified copy of your South African ID document.
    • Certified copy of your Matric certificate or results statement.
    • Proof of registration at your university (on official letterhead).
    • Academic transcripts (on university letterhead) for second and third-year students only.
    • Proof of your parents’ or household income.
    • A well-written motivational letter explaining your need for financial assistance and your academic goals.

All supporting documents must be clear copies and incomplete applications will not be considered.
