About the UNISA BANKSETA Bursary

This bursary program is designed to support financially deserving South African students pursuing a BCom in Financial Accounting Sciences at UNISA.

The bursary provides comprehensive financial assistance, covering the following expenses:

  1. Full tuition fees: You won’t have to worry about the financial burden of tuition.
  2. Laptop (up to R7,000): The bursary provides a valuable tool for your studies.
  3. Monthly stipend/allowance (R1,500): This helps cover living expenses while you focus on your education.
  4. Monthly data allowance (R500): Stay connected and access essential online resources.

The bursary does not cover outstanding fees from previous studies.

UNISA BANKSETA Bursary recipients are also required to attend virtual classes via Microsoft Teams.

The bursary program provides the class calendar and facilitates participation in any additional academic-related sessions offered.

UNISA BANKSETA Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the UNISA BANKSETA Bursary, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Be a South African citizen.
  2. Be under 35 years old.
  3. Be registered for the BCom Fac (98302) program at UNISA.
  4. Have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum.
  5. Not be receiving any other bursaries or grants.
  6. Not be employed for the duration of the program.

Preference will be given to:

  1. Students with disabilities.
  2. Financially disadvantaged students.
  3. Students with a strong academic record.

To apply for the UNISA BANKSETA Bursary, you will need to submit the following documents:

  1. Completed UNISA BANKSETA Bursary Application form: Download the form from the UNISA website.
  2. Certified copies of supporting documents:
    • ID document
    • Highest qualification certificate
    • Academic record of your highest qualification
    • Proof of registration at UNISA for BCom Fac (for the 2025 academic year only)
    • ID documents/ birth certificate of dependents (if applicable)
    • ID documents of people contributing to your household income
    • Proof of income/ payslips of household income contributors (not older than 3 months)
    • SAPS stamped affidavit for no household income with supporting documents (if applicable)
    • Proof of disability (if applicable)
