Volkswagen Group South Africa Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Volkswagen Group South Africa Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. South African citizenship
  2. Currently in Matric (Grade 12) or have completed Matric
  3. Minimum overall average of 70% in Matric (bachelor’s pass)
  4. Registering or registered for full-time undergraduate studies in an approved field (listed above)
  5. Registered at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution
  6. Minimum overall average of 65% at tertiary level (if currently studying)
  7. Preference will be given to students from designated groups as per VWGA’s Transformation objectives (supporting diversity and inclusion)

Volkswagen Group South Africa Bursary Application Requirements

Applications for the VWSA Bursary are submitted online.

Along with the application, you must submit clear copies of the following supporting documents:

  1. Certified copy of your ID document
  2. Grade 12 Term 2 Report and Grade 11 Final Year Report (with official school stamp and certified) (for Matric students)
  3. Acceptance or provisional acceptance letter from an accredited institution (for Matric students entering university in 2025)
  4. Certified copy of your Matric certificate (for students currently studying)
  5. Certified copies of full tertiary academic records and latest official academic transcripts (June 2024) (for students currently studying)
  6. Proof of registration for 2024 (certified copy) (for students currently studying)
  7. Official University Fee Statements for 2024 and lease agreement (if living off-campus) (for students currently studying)
  8. Certified copy of your Matric certificate and any relevant academic transcripts (if taking a gap year)
  9. Comprehensive CV (listing work experience and background)
  10. Motivational letter (1-2 pages) explaining why you deserve the bursary
  11. Documentation of any existing bursary award (NSFAS or other)
  12. Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) form and Doctor’s Diagnosis Letter (if disabled)
  13. Certified copies of parents’ or guardian’s ID documents or death certificate (if deceased)
  14. Signed consent form by parent or legal guardian and certified copy of their ID (if under 18)

All certified documents must be less than 3 months old.
