The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is now accepting applications for 2026 from students enrolled in approved courses at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges and universities.

NSFAS offers full bursaries and student loans to eligible students in approved programs.

Who Can Apply For NSFAS Bursary?

  • All South African citizens
  • Recipients of SASSA grants are eligible for funding
  • Applicants with a combined household income of no more than R350,000 per year
  • For students with disabilities, the household income must not exceed R600,000 per year
  • Students who began their studies before 2018 and whose household income is no more than R122,000 per year

What Does NSFAS Bursary Cover?

The bursary covers:

  • Tuition and registration fees
  • Allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials

How to Apply For NSFAS Bursary

Follow these steps to apply for NSFAS:

  1. Visit www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
  2. Create a myNSFAS account.
  3. Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and fill out the necessary sections.
  4. Upload any required supporting documents.
  5. Click ‘Submit’ to complete your application.
