Bursary Providers in South Africa

BursariesAfrica has researched a profile for every organisation behind the bursaries, scholarships and learnerships on this site, from Sasol and Transnet to small rural municipalities and trusts that fund one or two students a year. Each profile explains who the provider is, where its money comes from, what it funds, and how to check its current dates yourself, with links to the provider’s own website.

The mix reflects how South African study funding really works. Mining houses and engineering and construction firms make up a large share of the companies, because bursaries are their main way to secure scarce technical graduates. Government funders include 19 local municipalities, nine provincial departments and 15 state-owned companies, while 13 of the country’s 21 SETAs appear here. All 26 public universities have profiles that connect their own bursaries with our application, APS, fees and status guides.
