About Public Investment Corporation Bursary
The PIC Bursary Programme was launched in 2017 to bridge the gap in tertiary education funding.
It offers financial assistance to academically deserving and financially needy unemployed South African youth.

Public Investment Corporation Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PIC Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a South African citizen by birth or naturalization.
- You must be no older than 25 years of age.
- You must be a Matriculant (completed Grade 12) or currently enrolled in Matric.
- You must be registered for full-time undergraduate studies.
- You must be registered at a public accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa.
- You must be pursuing your first undergraduate degree (the bursary does not cover second degrees or postgraduate studies).
- You must demonstrate a genuine financial need to qualify for the bursary.
- You must have a proven record of academic excellence.
- You must be unemployed at the time of application.
Preference will be given to:
- Applicants living with a disability.
- Matriculants with a minimum of 60% pass rate in all subjects.
- Undergraduate students with a minimum of 60% average in all modules.
Public Investment Corporation Bursary Application Requirements
Applications for the Public Investment Corporation Bursary are submitted online.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Application Portal: Applications are submitted through the PIC Bursary Application portal.
- Supporting Documents: You will be required to submit various certified documents along with your application. Ensure all documents are certified within the last 3 months. Here’s a list of required documents:
- Certified copy of your ID document.
- Certified copies of your Grade 11 final results and Matric June results (if applicable).
- Certified copy of your Matric certificate (if completed Matric).
- Certified copies of your full academic record/transcripts (if currently studying).
- Certified copy of proof of preliminary acceptance or registration for the 2024 academic year (if applicable).
- Certified copy of a signed student loan agreement or contract (if applicable).
- Certified copy of a quotation from your institution outlining tuition fees, book costs, accredited accommodation, and meals.
- Certified copy of proof of disability (medical certificate) (if applicable).
- Certified copies of documents proving your parents’ or guardians’ monthly household income and dependants (e.g. payslips, affidavits, death certificates, SASSA letters, court orders).
- Application form signed by yourself (or your parent/guardian if you are under 18).
