SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) Bursary

The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is calling on learners and students to apply for the 2024 bursary fund for post-matric studies.

This bursary aims to empower the youth from SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities—Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana, Joe Morolong, Tsantsabane, and Thabazimbi—helping them achieve economic sustainability.

  • Assistive devices for learners with disabilities

SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) Bursary Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen living in or originating from SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities.
  • Applicants must be under 35 years old by the application closing date.
  • Must have been admitted to a public Higher Education Institution for the 2024 academic year.
  • Should demonstrate financial need for funding their undergraduate or postgraduate studies, with a preference for undergraduates.
  • Priority is given to applicants with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialisations:

Agriculture: Veterinarian, Livestock Product Analyst, Environmental Officer, Agricultural Economist, Agricultural Engineer, Food Technologists, Food Technicians.

Health and Clinical Sciences: MBChB, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Advanced EMS, Nursing, Chemical, Biological, Medical Lab Sciences, Biochemistry.

Education: BEd. FET Mathematics, BEd. FET Physical Science, BEd. Natural Sciences, Economic and Management Sciences, BEd. Foundation Phase, BEd. Language, BEd. Special Needs.

Law: LLB.

Tourism: Hospitality Management, Arts and Culture Heritage, Ecotourism Management.

Business Management and Economics: Accounting, Economics, Auditing and Tax, Actuarial Science, Statistics and Mathematics, Project Management.

Engineering and Sciences: Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Geology, Electrical Engineering, Town Planning, Environmental Health.

Information Technology: Computer Sciences and Communication, Software Development, Data Science/Analytics, Web Design and Development.

SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) Bursary Application Process:

  1. Get the Application Form:
    • Visit the SIOC-CDT website.
    • Collect from the SIOC-CDT office in Kathu, Thabazimbi Business Hub, or the nearest Department of Education circuit office.
    • Online application is also available.
  2. Submit the Application:
    • Complete the SIOC-CDT Bursary Application Form.
    • Include a certified copy of your latest matric results (or latest academic results if applying for funding for the 2nd year onwards), proof of acceptance at a recognized public Higher Education Institution, certified copy of SA ID, proof of residence, and proof of combined income of parent(s) or guardian(s) (recent three months’ payslips and bank statements, or affidavit if no income).
    • Submit any relevant medical notes for disabilities.
