Can I Upgrade My Diploma To A Degree at Unisa?

While you cannot directly convert a diploma into a degree, Unisa offers several ways to make the transition.

These are the two main options:

  1. Credit towards a degree: Unisa does not offer “top-up” degrees. If your diploma is related to a Unisa degree, you can apply for admission to the degree and ask for credit for modules you already passed. Many Unisa degrees accept a completed diploma from the same college. If you hold a 360-credit diploma, you can also apply for a related advanced diploma (NQF level 7).
  2. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Unisa’s RPL program acknowledges the knowledge and skills you gained through your diploma and relevant work experience.  A successful RPL application can grant you exemption from specific modules within a bachelor’s degree program, reducing your overall study time.

How many years is a diploma at Unisa?

Unisa diplomas carry 240 or 360 credits. A 360-credit diploma takes at least three years with a full study load. Unisa has no one-year diplomas.

However, the exact duration can vary depending on the specific diploma you choose.

Are Unisa qualifications Recognised?

Unisa is a recognised higher learning institution by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa.

Qualifications earned at Unisa are  nationally and internationally accredited, making them valuable for career advancement and further studies.

Can I do Masters after post graduate diploma at Unisa?
