Are Unisa Applications Open For 2027?

Unisa’s application dates for the 2027 academic year depend on the qualification you want:

  1. Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, diplomas and degrees): Unisa accepts applications from 17 August to 9 October 2026.
  2. Honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas: Unisa accepts applications over the same period, 17 August to 9 October 2026.
  3. Master’s and doctoral qualifications: Unisa accepts applications from 1 September to 20 November 2026, although selection degrees and some other qualifications have their own periods. Applications for Unisa’s short learning programmes open on 2 November 2026.

What is the closing date for Unisa registration?

The application deadline is different from the registration deadline.

Once you’ve received an offer for admission, you’ll be given specific instructions on completing your registration.

Accept your offer within 10 working days (unless the email says otherwise) at www.unisa.ac.za/acceptoffer, then register during the registration period. For 2026, undergraduate semester-module registration ran from 7 January to 20 February 2026. Unisa had not published the 2027 registration dates by 17 September 2026.

How do I check my Unisa status for 2027?

If you applied to Unisa before the deadlines mentioned above, you can check your application status online through the Unisa Student Portal.

Use Unisa’s Track application status tool. You only need your student number.

This is the process to follow to check your status:

  1. Visit the Unisa website (https://www.unisa.ac.za/).
  2. Open the Track application status page at https://myadmin.unisa.ac.za/unisa-studentstatus/default.do.
  3. Enter your student number and click Continue.
  4. Read the status of each qualification you applied for.
  5. If the status has not changed, check the email address you gave in your application for updates from Unisa.

How much is the application fee for Unisa in 2027?

Unisa charges first-time applicants R160.00 for an online application (R255 for a hard copy), and the fee is due by the closing date of the application period.

You’ll be required to pay this fee after you’ve submitted your application and received a student number.

How to apply at Unisa for 2027

If the qualification you want is still open, apply to Unisa for 2027 like this:

  1. Visit the Unisa website.
  2. Click on “Study” in the top navigation bar.
  3. Select “Apply Now” from the dropdown menu.

  9. You’ll receive a student number upon successful application submission. Use this number to pay the application fee.
