BEd Foundation Phase Teaching requirements (90102)
- A National Senior Certificate with a degree pass, 50% in the language of teaching and learning, and 40% in Mathematics or 50% in Mathematical Literacy.
- APS 23. The degree is 480 credits at NQF 7.
- Compulsory teaching practice every year, and registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) from the first year.
The Department of Basic Education describes the Higher Certificate in Education as a bridging route for Grade R practitioners who do not yet qualify for the BEd Foundation Phase.
